Cataract Surgery/2.2mm Phacoemulsification surgery
Cataract is the clouding of the natural crystalline lens which leads to decrease in vision. The symptoms include blurry vision, haloes around light, glare and trouble seeing in the night. Surgical extraction of cataract with implantation of intraocular lens (IOL) is the only accepted modality of treatment. Phacoemulsification technique through a 2.2/2.8mm incision with a foldable IOL insertion is the latest and most successful treatment modality for cataract removal.

Retinal and Macular Disorders
Retina is the thin layer of tissue that lines the back of the eye on the inside. Visualization of retinal blood vessels makes it vital in the diagnosis and management of vascular diseases like Diabetic Retinopathy and Venous occlusions.
Macula is the central part of retina, degeneration of which is common in aging (Age-Related Macular Degeneration) and it affects the central vision. Early diagnosis of this condition is vital in preventing irreversible visual loss.

Corneal and Conjunctival Disorders
Cornea is the clear, dome shaped outermost surface of the eye and Conjunctiva is the clear, thin membrane that covers the front surface of the eye. The common conditions that affects cornea include,
- Injuries ranging from minor scratches to penetrating trauma
- Allergies
- Conjunctivitis and corneal ulcers/Keratitis
- Dry Eye
- Corneal dystrophies
- Keratoconus

Refractive Errors
Refractive Error is a problem of focusing light accurately on the retina due to abnormal shape of the cornea, size of the eye or lens disorders. The common types of refractive errors are near-sightedness (myopia), long-sightedness(hypermetropia), astigmatism, and presbyopia. We have an optical shop attached to our facility for all your refractive needs.

Glaucoma
Glaucoma is a condition which causes damage to the eye’s (optic) nerve and causes irreversible blindness. It usually happens when the fluid pressure inside the eye builds up due to over production or under drainage of fluid in the eye (aqueous humor) and it exerts pressure on the optic nerve. The visual symptoms develop quite late in the disease and the condition is often referred to as the ‘silent thief of sight’. It's one of the leading causes of blindness in people over 60 years old. If detected early, the progression can be halted with the regular use of eye drops.

The clinic functions as a subsidiary of Palamattam Clinic, which was functioning since 1991 in the same premises The Eye clinic started functioning from June 18,2018.

The clinic caters to all eye conditions and has a full time professionally trained optometrist. Its set in a nature friendly atmosphere and has ample parking space.

Dr. Sachin Mathew George
MBBS, DNB - Ophthalmology, FRCS
Dr Sachin Mathew George did his 3-year Basic Ophthalmic Training and a further 2-year Clinical Fellowship in Cornea and Microsurgery from Aravind Eye Hospital and Post Graduate Institute in Ophthalmology, Coimbatore. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, Glasgow. After his fellowship, he was working with the National Health Group (NHG) and Alexandra Health in Singapore for 10 years. His special areas of interest include cataract, ocular trauma, corneal and external eye diseases. He is currently seeing patients in his own clinic (PALAMATTAM EYE CLINIC) and is a visiting consultant at Chaithanya Eye Hospital, Palarivattom.
